Summary
Assist with the management of the department, maintaining high standards of nursing practice and promoting the philosophy of patient and family centred care. Ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times. Function at experienced nurse level, able to make effective decisions autonomously / independently without supervision and in partnership with patients, families and the multi-disciplinary team when required. Act as a leader / co-ordinator and role model for the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of a high standard of evidence based care to patients and providing support for all staff on the unit. Oversee projects within the department and provide representation at appropriate Trust meetings Facilitate the education of registered and non registered staff and work in association with, and the support of, the department manager in defining standards of care and practice aimed at developing and/or improving quality patient care. Manage and co-ordinate the department, Working independently and without supervision. The post holder may be required to work within any of the division as required. Participate in department audits infection control, comfort rounds etc. Participate in data collection for nursing indicators and input it into NUMIS. Support the department manager in maintaining mandatory training compliance, Support the department manager in risk management, managing clinical incidents etc.
