Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Clinical Studies Officer (CSO) to join Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is keen to work in research. The post holder will be supporting the delivery of commercial and non-commercial National Institute for Health and Social Care Research (NIHR) portfolio research studies across a range of specialties. This will involve identifying, recruiting and supporting patients through the research process as well as providing support to study teams and clinicians carrying out research. Additionally, the post-holder will actively promote research amongst clinicians, service users and the wider NHS.

The post is advertised as full-time for 12 months and will be based at the Lantern Centre, Preston although the post holder will be an ‘agile’ worker and is expected to work across Lancashire.

The post holder will provide information and education on research projects to interested parties and must therefore have demonstrable knowledge of research design and methods. It is essential that the applicant has a professional qualification or is educated to degree level in a relevant health care subject, with at least 2 years’ experience of working in a health care, social or NHS organisation. The post holder must also be able to travel around Lancashire, independently, in a timely manner and on a regular basis and build effective working relationships with the wider R&D team, NIHR clinical research networks and clinical service staff. The CSO will play an active role in supporting a range of research studies and will work directly with service users across the Trust, including in the community.



Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
