Graduate English Teaching Assistant: Key Responsibilities
As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Work closely with English teachers to support engaging, challenging lessons
• Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions to boost literacy, reading, and writing skills
• Encourage students to build confidence in analysis, essay writing, and creative expression
• Help prepare lesson resources and support classroom activities
• Play an active role in celebrating progress and motivating students to succeed
Graduate English Teaching Assistant: Who We’re Looking For
To succeed as a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you should have:
• A 2:1 or higher degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject (Russell Group/top-30 university preferred)
• Strong academic record at GCSE and A-Level
• Excellent communication skills with a passion for working with young people
• Patience, resilience, and a proactive attitude
• An interest in progressing into teaching, education, or related careers
• Previous experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, classroom support) is desirable but not essential
