Strategy Lead – Role Overview

As Strategy Lead you will be based within the Strategy team reporting to the Head of Strategy. The Strategy Team sets the long-term direction for the Valuation Office Agency across its three strategic objectives: providing trusted valuations efficiently; delivering an excellent customer experience; and being a great place to work.

We work with policy, operations and the central functions to define and prioritise the Agency’s short term, medium term and long term aims. We gather and analyse data to deliver evidence-based propositions on how to achieve these aims as well as solutions for complex and wide-ranging challenges. We set out appropriate designs and implementation approaches, translating them into actionable plans.

The Strategy Team sits within the broader Strategy and Transformation Group, working across all aspects of the Agency to provide teams with structure and expertise to develop and land transformation successfully. We ensure alignment between major programmes and smaller transformation projects by providing the holistic picture for the Agency.

As Strategy Lead, you will initially be responsible for the VOA’s Customer & Channel Strategy, taking forward our refreshed Customer Strategy to ensure our day-to-day activity and transformation plans deliver our customer’s priorities. You will work with broad range of operational, data, customer experience communications and transformation colleagues to embed the customer’s strategic priorities and channel hierarchy into the broader Agency. The role will involve high levels of senior engagement and stakeholder management.

The role will go on to lead and support broader strategic elements of the VOA’s transformation and programme work, generally focused on improving our operations or customer experience.

Strategy Lead – Key responsibilities

The Strategy Lead role is an important role leading the development of various VOA strategies and supporting the transition of strategy into design and delivery for the agency. Some of your key responsibilities may include:

  • Owning the Customer & Channel Strategy – ensuring ongoing customer-related VOA activity aligns to the strategic principles set out in the strategy, and that the Strategy remains relevant to our customer and stakeholder groups
  • Leading Strategy Development - Defining strategic ambition, developing strategic business cases, driving strategic analysis and putting in place steps to enable the strategy to be delivered.
  • Transitioning into design and delivery - Refining roadmaps and testing strategic assumptions, cost-benefit analysis, partner closely with design, delivery and operational colleagues to ensure appropriate work packs and owners; ensure strategic vision is maintained throughout design and delivery phases
  • Ongoing Strategic Support - Providing strategy input into investment cases, portfolio assessment and annual business plans.
  • Stakeholder Management - Identifying key stakeholders and developing effective relationships to enable collaborative working on strategy development.
  • Build Strategic Capability - Developing yourself and others to build strategic capability within the team and across the business.
