Summary
We are looking for a Band 5 assistant psychologist (AP) to work in the Adult Psychological Support Service at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton to support the delivery of psychological services to people affected by cancer.
You must have previously held a paid AP post which provided clinical experience; additionally, you must be assertive, highly organised, have an attention to detail and possess advanced IT skills (experience in Epic is an advantage).
Your duties will include contributing to the screening and triaging of outpatient referrals; supporting clinicians to co-ordinate and respond to inpatient referrals; to help plan and deliver psycho-educational courses and individual interventions; assisting in clinically related administration, collection of statistics, development of audit and research projects, teaching and project work; writing reports, as well as assisting in the preparation of papers for publication.

Under the direction of a psychologist the post holder will assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical and research activities.
To contribute to the screening of patient referrals to the service and to communicate via Epic/ email/ letter and/ or phone with referrers and MDTs.
To help plan and deliver psycho-educational courses and individual interventions.
To assist in clinically related administration, collection of statistics, development of audit and research projects, teaching and project work.
To assist in the preparation of papers for publication.

Clinical – communication and relationship skills/ responsibility for patient care
To develop skills in working with adults who have cancer, and with their families
To contribute to screening and to triage referrals to the service, assess risk under supervision of a psychologist, communicate via Epic/ email/ letter and/or phone with referrers, MDTs and GPs
To assist in the administration and provision of psycho-education for groups of patients and relatives as required, under supervision of a psychologist
You will support the service in the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical and research activities.
You will be joining a supportive and friendly team of trainee and qualified staff from across a range of clinical backgrounds, including counselling, psychology (clinical and counselling), psychosexual therapy, psychiatry and mental health nursing. There are excellent CPD opportunities.
