Summary


This post will offer candidates from the UK or from further abroad a unique
opportunity to consolidate their experience in a busy and supportive NHS
foundation hospital and provide a stepping-stone to the next level of clinical experience.

They will have educational teaching, learning and assessment
equivalent to those on national speciality programmes.

Each doctor will have an educational supervisor in line with the specialty
GMC curriculum.

The post offers a wide variety of experience in both elective and emergency Orthopaedics. The post
holder will be responsible to the appropriate Consultants for admitting cases, the conduct of ward
investigations and for pre and post-operative care. They will also be responsible for arranging theatre
lists and will participate in operative surgery, the extent of their involvement being commensurate
with experience and ability. The post holder will attend and assist at Orthopaedic Outpatient Clinics.
The post-holder will be expected to attend the rolling half days and take part in audit and case
presentation. Log books of the surgical operations performed will be mandatory (Log Book for RCS
England).
Research opportunities may be possible for suitable interested post holders.
