At Herefordshire Council, we’re passionate about promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing inequalities across the communities of Herefordshire. To help us on this journey, we’re looking for a dedicated and insightful Health and Care Intelligence Specialist to join our Public Health Team.
This exciting and newly created role will be undertaken alongside a 36-month (Health Care Intelligence Specialist Level 7 Apprenticeship with training provider JGA Group). The apprenticeship information document attached to the advert provides more detail about the apprenticeship course and modules. This role, combined with the apprenticeship provides a unique opportunity to influence real change across the local health and social care system through high-quality data analysis and intelligence gathering.

What will you be doing?
As the Health and Care Intelligence Specialist, you will help develop the range, quality and availability of public health intelligence. Your work will support the information needs of the Public Health Team and its partners within Herefordshire Council and across the Integrated Care System. This will include:
- Leading on analysis and interpretation of complex health, care and population data using appropriate specialist health analytical, epidemiological and biostatistical techniques; and draw meaningful conclusions to understand the factors that influence population health, inequalities and the planning and delivery of health and care services.
- Advise on the investigation of patterns and variations in determinants, diseases, conditions influencing health and care outcomes and service evaluations
- Work in partnership with statutory, non-statutory, voluntary and private sectors to promote effective collaborative working to achieve shared health improvement priorities.
- Contribute to the council’s response to public health emergencies including communicable disease outbreaks and major incidents involving chemical, biological or radiological hazards
About You
We’re seeking applications from candidates who:
- Have prior experience of undertaking research, analysis, evaluation, reports and presentational work, along with aptitude for working with data and generating intelligence.
- Experience of turning data into information, insight and intelligence to enhance the health and wellbeing of the population.
- Are self-motivated and use own initiative but also work effectively as part of a wider team, contributing to the development and management of policy, performance and planning
- Meet the qualifications and training requirements as outlined in the Person Specification section of the Job Description.
