A female SEN Personal Assistant to look after a 4 year old boy
Hourly pay rate:
£17 per hour.
Location: Harrogate, HG2
Hi, I’m looking for a dedicated personal assistant to support my boy who has Autism and Global Development Delay. He is non-verbal but will find a way to let you know what he needs.
Peppa Pig and chocolate chip cookies are his world! He is mobile and likes being outdoors, visiting parks and spending time on the swings and slides. He doesn’t have any sense of danger so needs close supervision.
In this role, during term time you'll be helping me (mum) twice a week with wraparound care, looking after him at home before and after school. He will be dropped off and picked up from the house so no need to do the dreaded school run! During school holidays, I will need cover on average 3 days a week so can offer 24 hours during that holiday time but this is flexible.
Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal care tasks like changing nappies, dressing and undressing, as well as giving him breakfast / dinner (which is always chicken dippers so no chef experience needed). He also has a gastrostomy tube which is used to give him milk and medication.
Candidate qualities:
Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
Reliable with good timekeeping
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Hygienic, tidy and well organised
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
Honest and cheerful
Creative
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
Previous experience of working with autistic children
Non-smoker or vaper
SEN Experience
Hours per week:
Term time: 8 hours per week over two days - typically Tuesdays and Thursdays (term time) - approx start time 7am - 8.30am in the morning and then 3.30pm - 6pm evening. Please note exact hours will be confirmed when drop off / pick up time is confirmed by LA.
Holiday time: average 24 hours per week - x3 full days across Tues - Thurs (School holidays).
UK driving license and access to own vehicle is desirable but not essential.
Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and have an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service clearance.
Exception under the Equality Act(2010)- the post(s) is only open to female applicants due to the personal assistance required.
Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position, you will be employed directly by myself and entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
Please apply by CV quoting ref: D879
Nycil act on behalf of the employer, and will pass any applications direct to them.
