Summary
Salary: £29,540 to £32,061 per annum, plus weekend working enhancement.
Contract Type: Permanent.
Working Pattern: Full-time, 37 hours per week. Where service demands you will be required to participate in a rota to provide cover between the hours 8am to 8pm, 5 out of 7 days per week, including weekends and bank holidays.
Location: Durban House, Durban Road, Bognor Regis PO22 9RE. Due to the temporary closure of Durban House, you will be based in a temporary office in Bognor Regis. You may also be required to work at other county council locations when required.
Regular attendance at your designated base location will also be necessary, and there will opportunities for some remote work. Final arrangements will be confirmed with the successful candidate.
You may need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes are available.
Employer Pension Contribution: 18.70% this alters per annum on the 1 April each year.
Annual leave: 25 days annual leave.
About the Job
The Community Hub is an agile customer service function. It adapts to deliver local authority commitments mandated by the government, including COVID support, the Household Support Fund, and the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
As a Community Hub Officer, you will provide telephone, email, and e-form contact points for a wide range of inquiries from residents. You will be responsible for delivering a front-line service directly to customers, offering solutions to the queries and issues raised.
The focus of this role is to deliver a truly customer-focused service which delivers 'Customer Excellence' standards consistently and supports the residents of West Sussex.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Influencing skills to be able to persuade colleagues to draft responses to letters and provide information on progress.
- Able to prioritise between competing demands and remain calm when dealing with irate or unhappy customers.
- Proficient IT skills.
- Experience of working in a customer service role.
- Knowledge of the processes involved in the work of prevention and crisis support, to be able to explain to customers what stage a piece of work is at, how it will progress, etc.
