As an Infrastructure Engineering Lead, you'll be leading a group of engineers to design, develop and integrate software features to achieve their goals.

Collaboration with the Product Owner, Lead Quality Engineer and SMEs to deliver infrastructure features on the product roadmaps, manage down technical debt, maintain the health of production instances and to create the space to develop the skills needed by the target technology architecture.

Bringing consideration and confidence to complex infrastructure solution decisions, ensuring alignment with industry practices and group technology policies to ensure solutions are engineered to be reliable, scalable, performant, accessible, and secure.

Taking ownership for unblocking technical challenges and forward look to prove out new patterns and technical solutions ready for full use within the team, lab or platform. Where needed, act as a Chapter Lead to drive cross platform strategies and solutions.

Installing active application custodianship through the creation and execution of strategies to implement effective security controls to ensure compliance with policies and standards, protecting against misconfigurations and vulnerabilities.

Working to build a strong team by coaching, developing and mentoring engineers on how to achieve their team, technical and personal goals. Modelling group Values and accessing frameworks, learning collateral and early careers programmes to build rounded engineering capability within your teams.

What you'll need:

Extensive practical experience in overseeing engineering teams to develop infrastructure solutions that drive business outcomes. Skilled in anticipating issues, challenges, and opportunities, with a proven track record in managing large-scale, complex infrastructure upgrades to ensure minimal disruption and optimal performance.

Exposure to multiple database technologies, including open-source and proprietary technologies, with proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft SQL Server environments being beneficial

A deep passion for platform engineering, with a keen interest in evaluating existing deployments to determine and implement the most effective hosting strategies.

Experience of leading an engineering team in a scaled context. Managing risk, meeting security standards, and prioritising the need to maintain and protect service versus the need to transform capabilities and experiences.

Practical experience of leading and empowering teams using agile methods that contributes towards teams being able to release value early and often.

A natural inquisitiveness to all facet's technology and consideration as to how these can be applied to deliver improvements in customer journeys. With evidence of continuous learning, shown in usage of frameworks, practices and how they embed in an agile construct.

Work effectively within teams to embed a culture of collaboration and ownership. Contribute to Communities of Practice where colleagues share knowledge, take initiative and deliver on commitments.
