Join us as an Infrastructure Engineer

  • Focussed on DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IP address management), you’ll develop and implement core technologies, products, and services against customer and non-functional requirements
  • Liaising with colleagues across the bank, you’ll share engineering best practices, allowing you to provide thought leadership while developing solutions
  • This role offers considerable variety as well as stakeholder engagement

What you'll do

As an Infrastructure Engineer in DDI, you’ll contribute to and manage the selection, creation, and maintenance of technologies required to meet the needs of our customers, strategic targets, and architecture outcomes. You’ll also be responsible for developing products using modern engineering practices and tools.

We’ll look to you to collaborate with Product Owners to develop product solutions and manage the lifecycle of the team's products. You’ll also support engineered products to respond to customer feedback and new feature requests, and you’ll resolve production issues and help customers consume our products.

Additionally, you’ll:

  • Ensure the required work in the platform backlog contains detailed acceptance criteria and ensure that operations support or the warranty period is clear and accountable once a system migration is completed
  • Be a key team member for one of the most complex and risk exposed technical infrastructures and provide operational support for pattern or product related issues
  • Assist with the production of infrastructure roadmaps, detailing lifecycles of the technology from new products and versions, through to end of support and retirement
  • Build an awareness of design thinking tools and techniques with users in order to improve your product
  • Work with key vendors in the delivery of the infrastructure services and technology for the product
  • Build and leverage relationships with colleagues across the bank to make sure decisions made are commercially focussed and create long term value

The skills you'll need

To thrive in this role, you’ll need to understand how your area of expertise supports customers, from the core development of technology to risk based decisions. On top of this, you’ll need a clear understanding of infrastructure layers or stacks, and a broad knowledge across multiple platforms such as servers, operating systems, virtualisation, or networks.

Along with experience of contributing to roadmaps and strategies and working closely with third parties on assurance of their output and performance, you’ll need an advanced understanding of DNS, DHCP and IPAM (DDI) technologies. We’ll also expect you to bring a good understanding of Agile working practices and toolsets with the ability to create the vision for the release train, feature team, platform, and domain.

Furthermore, you’ll need:

  • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to your peers and assist with presenting to management level colleagues with good collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to relate everyday work to the strategic vision of the feature team, platform, and domain
  • A clear understanding of the DevOps mind-set, collaboration, automation, and tooling
  • Advanced level knowledge of InfoBlox with experience of usage in large, complex enterprises
