Summary

Requirements

To act as a member of the staff team to provide care and support to individuals using the day service.


This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.

Responsibilities

To enable service user to participate in a wide range of therapeutic and social activities
To uphold social work values and to ensure good working practice with regard to health and safety To promote the independence of service users
To work positively with other agencies and services to ensure the highest level of care
Contribute to the maintenance of service user records General Duties Health and Safety

The Individual

Experience that would give you insight into issues relating to working with older adults.
Effective and proven literacy and numeracy skills.
Willingness to undertake further SVQ training if/as required.
Effective practical skills.
Active listening and observational skills to enable development and maintenance of care plans.
Flexibility.
Ability to show empathy.
Self-confident and self-motivated.
A strong value base.
Ability to form positive relationships with service users and other agencies involved in the provision of care.
Ability to record information accurately.
Sensitivity and understanding of discriminatory issues.
Knowledge and working practice in line with SSSC Codes of Practice and be able to evidence understanding of/application in a relevant work setting.
Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to service development.
Ability to use own initiative/when required.
Appreciation, acceptance of and commitment to the importance of confidentiality Able to understand and communicate clearly using the English language.
Willingness to accept direction/delegation.
Ability to carry out duties that involve a significant amount of moving and handling, using hoists and other lifting aids in conjunction with moving and handling regulations.
Ability to support service users with physical activities.

Starting Salary: £26531.96
£13.79 per hour
36.25 hours per week
