Our Controlled Human Infection Models are at the forefront of clinical research, accelerating the development of vaccines, diagnostics, and therapeutics that improve global health.We are seeking a Research Nurse to join our dynamic team, supporting the delivery of clinical trials in the Accelerator Research Clinic, an 18-bedded outpatient research facility, and the Human Challenge Facility, a 12-bedded inpatient isolation unit. You will play a key role in participant recruitment, clinical assessments, and data collection, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and maintaining the highest standards of patient care.Key Responsibilities for all bands include:Clinical ResponsibilitiesPerform all research visits, observations clinical procedures, vital signs, venepuncture and respiratory sampling in accordance with protocolEnsure accurate documentation of visits and events, updating databases as required and responding to data queries in a timely mannerEnsure the safe administration of treatments and drugs that are administered within the context of a clinical studyResearch & ComplianceCarry out clinical procedures, treatments and collection of clinical samples and specimens in line with study protocolsAssist in the informed consent process, including study discussions and presentations to participants, assessing eligibility, understanding and accurately completing the informed consent formEnsure that the participant’s health and safety are paramount in all procedures that take place for trial purposes.Administrative & Operational DutiesCarry out the collection of data, and accurate completion of research documentation as appropriate, with meticulous attention to detail and assist with data queriesEnsure that all clinical research activity is ICH GCP compliant and conducted in accordance with the agreed protocolsAssist with archiving of clinical studies as requiredCommunication & TeamworkLiaise with departments within LSTM, the NHS and outside agencies in a professional mannerFacilitate and maintain good communication between the PI, clinical, lab and trials management team to enable the successful delivery of the projectDeal with enquiries from participants and their families with a sensitive, professional, confidential and capable manner, reporting any concerns appropriatelyThe Ideal Candidate Will Possess:Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registrationBLS/ILS certificationPost-registration experience in a clinical or research settingGood Clinical Practice (GCP) certification (Desirable for Band 5, Essential for Bands 6 and 7)Experience coordinating clinical trials (Desirable for Band 5, Essential for Bands 6 and 7)Strong project management and organisational skillsWillingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and night shiftsFull details of responsibilities and requirements for each band can be found in the attached PDF containing all 3 job descriptionsThis role will require flexible working arrangements and may include out-of-hours working (weekend and night shifts).In Return, We Offer:30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and additional Christmas closure daysGenerous occupational pension schemesGovernment-backed Cycle to Work schemeDiscounted staff membership at the University of Liverpool Sports CentreA supportive and inclusive working environmentRetain NHS Pension membershipApplication Process: To apply, please click on the apply link and upload your CV and a cover letter outlining how your experience meets the person specification.We may close vacancies early due to the high volume of applications received.
