An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the nursing team on Ward 1 at Wansbeck General Hospital as Ward Manager. Ward 1 is a Cardiology and General Medicine Speciality with a fast pace and a multi skilled approach to care provided.

This post will provide the successful applicant the opportunity to lead a team in developing their skills and their knowledge of cardiology and/or general medicine and aid their development in their nursing career. This nursing speciality provides opportunities to work alongside the wider Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) to provide comprehensive care for patients in Cardiology and General Medicine.

Ward 1 at Wansbeck general Hospital provides nurses with an opportunity to play a key role in the patient’s journey with good opportunities to build relationships with both the MDT and community colleagues to help facilitate discharges home. We have a friendly and flexible team of nurses already within the ward and would look to recruit a forward thinking individual who will continue to foster, demonstrate and encourage moral leadership and innovative practice within the multidisciplinary team.

• Providing leadership to the multidisciplinary team
• Planning and implementation of flexible staff rosters and annual leave
• Maintenance of adequate staff levels and skill mix

• Lead in incident investigation and care reviews

• To be responsible for coordinating the provision of continuous clinical care within allocated resources, providing a quality service and high clinical standards for all patients in your area.
• To be responsible for the management of all human resources issues relating to the staff employed in your area.
• To act as Budget Holder, accountable for the management of the ward budget, and for the management of the ward’s charitable fund.
• To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC code of Professional Conduct.

This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams/ departments and across organizational boundaries.
