Summary

The Product Manager will lead the development of innovative and impactful products that support effective routes to competence across the construction industry. This role is central to shaping how individuals and organisations access, navigate, and achieve competence through alternative pathways, aligned with sector needs and standards.

You’ll be responsible for driving product strategy, collaborating across teams, and ensuring that solutions deliver measurable value to stakeholders. As a Product Manager you will be responsible for:

Empowering your team to deliver effective careers products throughout the product lifecycle.
Collaborating across departments to design and deliver new products that service the strategic needs of the sector.
Accurately forecasting financial projections and managing budgets.
Developing and executing performance measures that demonstrate impact and value.

Key Responsibilities:

To lead, manage and develop the designated Product Team.
Responsible for delivering strategic and operational outcomes for designated products, ensuring the operational delivery and performance of the designated Products meets customer requirements and is efficient and sustainable.

Develop and deliver Product Plans for designated area to meet agreed outcomes and or agreed financial targets, including pricing, marketing, delivery, customer service, quality assurance and the lifecycle of the product. Development of product to be effectively planned, resourced and rigorously tested prior to launch.

Collate and Manage Intelligence on the designated Products including the review and analysis of data collated from internal and external sources. Maintain thorough understanding of the ongoing changes in the economic climate for construction and the potential impact it has on designated Products to make informed decisions and revise forecasts/budgets.

Analysis and interpretation of data using known methods and tools to inform operational plans across the lifecycle of designated Products. Ensure that data is properly exploited and made available to the wider CITB, escalating high-risk concerns as appropriate along with mitigating actions.

Responsible for the promotion of designated Products and personally represent those Products with internal and external stakeholders via engagement forums and industry review groups.

Gain and develop the necessary expertise to represent the designated Products credibly and as the CITB organisational expert.

Draft, agree, monitor and regularly review service delivery SLAs and product performance over a range of KPIs, working with external providers to ensure designated Product queries are dealt with efficiently and effectively, positively impacting customer satisfaction.

Responsible for the financial performance of designated Products.
Monitor product trends, insights and lifecycle changes and complete regular horizon scanning to accurately forecast product demand.

Regularly collaborate with Finance and utilise obtained insight to inform forecasting and budget decisions. Maintain product costings and forecasts within own financial targets but with a one CITB position with regards to financial and impact targets. Ensure outsource partners are regularly informed of expected volumes to ensure adequate resource is available and effective customer service is maintained.
Develop and maintain relationships with other Product Managers, with enabling teams across CITB and with customers, partners, and stakeholders outside CITB.
Gain commitment to and provide the necessary materials and expertise necessary to deliver product awareness training to internal and external stakeholders and service delivery teams.

Identify, document, and escalate as appropriate risks for designated Products, identifying and deploying appropriate mitigations, including having Disaster Recovery and business continuity plans in place. Provide accurate and timely information for audits relating to designated products, and implement any recommendations made as a result of audit.
Managing complaints and appeals to ensure consistency, positively impact customer satisfaction and minimise any reputational damage for CITB.
Contribute to and/or produce effective CITB business cases for designated products.

Provide significant input into procurement exercises for designated suppliers run by the centralised Contracts Team. Provide expertise into any tender requirements that facilitate products in designated area, including creation of specification documents and evaluation/scoring of potential suppliers.
Manage 3rd party enabling partner and any other relevant suppliers for designated product area including tracking compliance and performance against contract and gaining assurance over contract delivery.
