Whether it’s creating bespoke, secure software, offering programme and application support or moving an entire embassy’s servers to a Cloud platform. No matter the task, they are on hand to support. Now, you’ve got the opportunity to join them.
Providing innovation to government partners.
Delivering best-in-class solutions.
Working at the cutting-edge of technology
It all matters.
You’ve probably never been a part of service transitions with such high stakes before. This is a rare chance to bring your full skillset – from service architecture to systems operations to stakeholder management – and manage transitions where national interest and security are key factors.
Be the backbone of IT Operations
As Services Transition Manager, you’ll be key to the smooth IT operations at FCDO Services. You’ll bring a confident, decisive communication style, able to deliver clear advice to the FCDO Service senior leadership team, customers, suppliers and other Government Departmental stakeholders. Also fundamental will be your strong management skills, business analysis, process awareness and service-orientated mindset to deliver control, accuracy, consistency and quality to IT operations.
You’ll manage how IT services are added, updated or removed from operations, ensuring that all runs smoothly and safely. This will involve research into technical training requirements, coordinated service transition activities across projects, ensuring compliance, and in-depth diagnosis of complex service transition issues. Representing the Service Transition Team, you’ll help stakeholders adjust to new services through coaching and advice. You’ll measure metrics and conduct regular reviews of transition activity, implementing improvements. As well as encouraging learning in others, you’ll attend ‘on the job’ internal and external courses to increase knowledge and skills capability – using it to provide expert guidance to more senior grades and those in their teams. Additionally, you’ll maintain the Service Transition Dashboard ensuring clear visibility of new, amended or disabled services.
Bring problem solving and clear communication to IT Operations
A confident researcher and problem solver, you’re excellent at analysing facts and interpreting data to make expert recommendations. You have strong relationship management skills and can communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels, when you need to be, you’re influential and a tactful negotiator.
You’re able to take initiative on Service Transition. You’ve worked on documenting processes and produces, with an understanding of corporate drivers such as strategy, values and core behaviours. All this is reflected in a record of successfully delivering results and meeting targets on time.
It would be desirable if you had knowledge of project management and operating IT systems within government environments and on a large, complex IT estate.
To qualify, at minimum you have ITIL Foundation. Plus, Level 3 qualifications (A level/AS level/T Level), preferably in Computer Science, Computer Systems, Networking / Digital Data Communication or Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subjects or relevant job experience. While not essential, we’re keen to see further relevant qualifications, such as ITIL Intermediate certified in Service Transition.
At FCDO Services, it all matters. And as a Services Transition Manager, you’ll be enthused to drive that ethos through your work too.

Working with us you’ll help keep people, information, and assets safe around the world. It’s a role you can feel proud of; and we aim to make every part of your career just as rewarding.
