Summary
A growing, manufacturing business is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join the team in Wirral.
You will ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of plant equipment and infrastructure through proactive maintenance, statutory compliance, and contractor coordination while also supporting customer project delivery through technical input and hands on support.
As Plant Maintenance Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
• Carrying out routine and reactive maintenance on plant systems (air pumps, valves, minor electrical components)
• Managing compliance with LOLER and PSSR regulations, including inspection schedules and documentation
• Overseeing and coordinating contracted maintenance services to meet quality standards and deadlines
• Performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting to reduce downtime
• Supporting projects involving plant modifications, installations, and upgrades
• Maintaining records of maintenance work, inspections, and contractor activities
• Collaborating with production and quality teams to enhance reliability and efficiency
• Adhering to and enforcing health, safety, and environmental requirements on site
We’re looking for a Plant Maintenance Engineer with:
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience in manufacturing with involvement in project-based tasks
• Sound knowledge of statutory compliance requirements (LOLER, PSSR)
• Competence in mechanical servicing and basic electrical fault diagnosis and repair
• Strong organisational and contractor management skills
• Familiarity with CMMS systems
• Excellent communication and a proactive, can do, team-oriented mindset
This is a full-time, permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, between 07:00-17:00.
