Summary
Saltdean Pre-School is looking for a fun, motivated, and caring practitioner to provide flexible cover for our friendly, well-established team.
If you’re passionate about giving children the very best start in life, we’d love to hear from you!
What we offer:
• Flexible, ad-hoc hours
• A supportive & welcoming work environment
• Opportunities for professional development
• A small, nurturing setting with children at the heart of everything we do
About Us
Saltdean Pre-School is a small, friendly, and welcoming setting caring for up to 30 children aged 2–5 years. We are open term time only and between the hours of 8.10am-3.10pm, Mon-Fri.
We have a well-established team and a strong focus on children’s interests, free play, and positive adult interactions. Our aim is to create a safe, happy place where every child can flourish and reach their potential. We are a charity led by a parent committee and will be moving to a new home at Saltdean Primary School in November 2025 – an exciting new chapter for our community!
About the Role
We are looking for a fun, motivated, and caring Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to join our team as bank staff. You’ll provide flexible cover for staff absences – sometimes on a regular basis – so adaptability and reliability are key. Please note this is a bank position and hours cannot be guaranteed.
What you’ll do:
• Create a welcoming, safe, and stimulating environment for all children.
• Provide quality care and engaging learning opportunities tailored to individual needs.
• Support both adult-led and child-initiated activities.
• Observe children’s play, record progress, and plan next steps.
• Offer occasional 1:1 support where needed.
• Prepare and serve snacks, promoting healthy eating and sociable mealtimes.
• Follow our safeguarding, health & safety, and other policies at all times
About You
You’ll bring:
• Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare (essential)
• SEN experience (desirable)
• Good understanding of the EYFS framework
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Previous experience with children aged 0–5
• Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to train)
• Flexibility, dependability, and a caring approach
• Strong communication skills and a team spirit
Benefits
• Flexible hours to fit your lifestyle
• Supportive and friendly working environment
• Opportunities for training and professional development
• The chance to make a genuine difference in children’s early learning
Please email us for more information and an application form.
