Summary

Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments of patients (Adults) presenting with urgent and emergency care needs in accordance with scope of practice and competence as a Enhanced Clinical Practitioner (ECP). Diagnose and manage a range of minor illness and injury presentations, referring appropriately when necessary. This may include direct referral to specialities'. Work independently within scope of practice, using enhanced clinical reasoning and decision-making skills. Request and interest appropriate diagnostics to inform decisions. Seek advice and support from Doctors/ACPs to formulate plans. Assess clinical risk for adult patients including but not limited to older people, people living with mental health conditions and acute/chronic presentations. Utilise Patient Group Directives (PGDs) to issue medications relevant to the condition. Contribute to safe and effective patient flow through rapid assessment and early intervention. Ensure a safety net for patients who are discharged (examples, referral to General Practitioner, SOS/worsening advice and onward care). Initiate safeguarding referrals for vulnerable patients. Provide information to patients in electronic/leaflet form. Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation. Participate in clinical supervision, mentorship, and peer review. Engage in quality improvement and service development initiatives Complete a structured portfolio of competence aligned to the NHSE Emergency Practitioner Framework. Maintain practice in accordance with regulatory and professional standards. Adhere to organisational policies, procedures and clinical directives. Act as a clinical role model and provide visible leadership within the urgent/emergency department. Contribute to service development initiatives aligned with Trust and national priorities. Participate in clinical governance activities and departmental meetings. Lead on clinical audits and quality improvement projects within the urgent/emergency care setting. Actively contribute to the supervision and development of Nurses. Promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
