Crynodeb
An opening has arisen for a suitably qualified BMS to join us as our Chief Biomedical Scientist for Haematology.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in service delivery for a maturing pathology network, overseeing haematology provision at our York and Scarborough sites.
This is a full-time role for a forward-thinking individual who would like to be part of a dynamic haematology team.
The SHYPS network provides pathology services for two acute Trusts, covering a population of 1.4 million and stretching across both North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire. SHYPS processes upwards of 26 million tests per annum across the network.
The network has recently introduced a new network LIMS, new shared QMS database and large scale analytical/automation upgrades. New purpose-built laboratory accommodation for the Scarborough site is planned for 2027. There couldn't be a better time to join us.
The full details of the role can be found in the job description and person specification attached.
Specialising in and being responsible for laboratory haematology, the post holder will work with the hospital clinical teams to ensure the department delivers a fit-for purpose and up-to-date service.
To be responsible for the day-to-day technical and scientific operational management within the department.
Play a key role in the provision of an efficient, high quality diagnostic service.
To be involved in shaping the strategic development of the department in consultation with the Head Biomedical Scientist.
To interpret and implement policies and procedures in order to meet the demands of the service.
To align and standardise procedures at each site and to seek opportunities for network improvements.
Ensure efficient planning, prioritisation and allocation of workload at both local and network level.
