This post is offered on a full time (10 PA) basis although less than full time applications will be considered. There is also the potential for the post-holder to agree a job plan up to a maximum 12 PA. The post will complement our existing workforce and individuals will work cross-site but the successful applicant will work predominantly at either Pinderfields or Dewsbury and District Hospital. The post holder will be expected to work without direct supervision at all times. The Emergency Department within the Trust consists of 34 substantive Consultants. The Department is supported by Specialist Registrars, Trust Grade doctors, Core Medical Trainees, GP VTS Trainees and foundation doctors. This is a new post being offered to complement the existing workforce. Clinical responsibilities will include: Working alongside other members of the Emergency Medicine multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality healthcare in the Emergency and Urgent Integrated Care Departments An interface role between primary care and secondary care looking at how we can support getting patients to the right service in a timely fashion Developing clinical pathways which span the primary care/secondary care interface Contributing to clinical governance and quality improvement within urgent and emergency care Contributing to the ongoing education of the multidisciplinary team in urgent and emergency care Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in assessment, diagnosis and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department and Urgent Integrated Care Stream. Development of services and pathways across the primary and secondary care interface and between ED, UIC, and acute medicine Provide senior support, leadership and formal clinical supervision to medical trainees and advanced clinical practitioners (ACPs) To actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD) and departmental meetings Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with at least a minimum of 1 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service. o Examples may include formal clinical supervision responsibilities or departmental leadership roles Applicants will be registered with the General Medical Council. Applicants with a registration on the General Practitioner Register by the time of appointment would be desirable but not essential. Applicants are required to have evidence of recent continued academic and professional development. Excellent communication, listening and organisational skills are essential. The rota covers both Pinderfields and Dewsbury sites Monday Sunday with PA re-numeration according to RCEM guidelines.
