Summary

SVQ Assessor – Electrical Engineer
Permanent - Full-Time, 35 hours per week (1 FTE) - Flexible Working Supported

Join Our Team:

The Faculty of Future Technology and Design at Glasgow Clyde College is seeking an experienced SVQ Assessor specialising in Electrical engineering. If you’re passionate about vocational training and committed to delivering high-quality assessments, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

As an SVQ Assessor, you will play a key role in the development of candidates, assessing them against National Occupational Standards at Levels 2 and 3. Your duties will include:

1. Monitoring candidate progress, arranging and conducting reassessments in the workplace using a variety of assessment techniques.
2. Maintaining accurate records of attendance and assessments, ensuring all documentation is processed according to College policies and in line with internal and external verification requirements.
3. Carrying out regular workplace visits to support and assess candidates, fostering strong relationships with both candidates and employers.
4. Engaging in the standardisation of assessment evidence to ensure consistency and quality.
5. Communicating progress and attainment effectively with candidates’ line managers, while adhering to strict deadlines and quality standards.

Requirements:

1. Qualifications:
1. Vocationally relevant HNC (SCQF Level 7) or equivalent and modern apprenticeship certification.
2. Assessor and Verifier Awards (required).
3. A qualification at SCQF Level 9 (desirable).

2. Experience and Skills:
1. Strong knowledge of Electrical Engineering and up-to-date expertise through continuous professional development (CPD). Knowledge/experience in other fields of engineering such as mechanical would be an advantage.
2. Previous experience in assessing SVQs within this field.
3. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of candidates and employers.

Salary: £37,301 per annum

Location: Anniesland Campus. However, you may be required to travel and work within all Glasgow Clyde campuses as well as travel to visit candidates in their workplace.
