The Council provides a diverse range of services for its 540,000 plus citizens via a 15,400-strong workforce and a net revenue budget of £1.4bn. We are the 2nd largest council in Scotland and the 9th in the UK.
The placement - The Council is seeking to recruit two Graduate Trainee Accountants. This is an exciting opportunity to work while being supported to study for the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) Professional Accountancy Qualification. You will have training placements in different teams, where you will gain experience in a variety of areas within the finance function. We have been awarded Best Practice Employer accreditation for our Trainee Accountant Programme and have a proven track record of supporting our trainees to successful completion of the qualification.
The person
- you will have, or expect to have in summer 2025, an honours degree in any discipline.
- you will be numerically competent.
- you will be able to prioritise and manage your workload at the same time as studying.
- you must demonstrate commitment to study for the CIPFA professional accountancy examinations.
This position will be subject to Basic Disclosure check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
