Chief Internal Auditor, Isle of Lewis (1291)
37 hours per week, Permanent Position
£62,201 - £67,776 per annum, inclusive of £2,859 Distant Islands Allowance per annum

A Chief internal auditor is required to lead, manage and coordinate a high profile, effective, and independent Internal Audit service. Ensure the promotion of, and adherence to, the standards and ethics specified in the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards. Uphold and promote the principles of good governance, best value and continuous improvement.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Organisational Governance

• Risk Management review and assessment

• Organisational Controls

• Regulatory audit

• Special Investigations

• Contract Audit

• Computer Audit

• Fraud risk and awareness

• Annual opinion and report

• Strategic Planning

You must be CCAB or CMIIA qualified with evidence of up-to-date Continued Professional Development and a minimum of five years' experience of audit at a senior or manager level.

You must also have a sound understanding of the principles underpinning public sector audit and accountancy and a thorough knowledge of the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards. Along with comprehensive knowledge gained through experience within an Internal Audit section at a managerial level.

You should have strong written and verbal communications skills and be able to prioritise and manage work to short deadlines, along with the ability to look behind the figures/data and to understand the facts that underpin them, and be adaptable, able to undertake a variety of difficult, complex and challenging tasks, using a variety of financial and analytical skills and provide advice and guidance to resolve complex issues.

Relocation support is available. Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance.
