For further information on this role, please see the attached detailed Job Description and Person Specification. Patient needs and medical advances frequently bring redevelopment or updating of departments. Whether this work is a maintenance project, in-house or a delegated Capital Scheme, the need to support and liaise with Architects, Consultants, Contractors and staff is frequent. Due to this updating of the Trust, the post holder will be required to communicate on all levels particularly with estates trade staff and to all departments as well as, keep and update records of work undertaken, planned preventative maintenance schedules and labour management systems such as the Computerised Aided Facility Management system (CAFM) and the Manpower systems, The post frequently involves diplomacy, tact and persuasion when communicating/dealing with the departments and outside representatives and when introducing new work practices, policies, legislation or techniques. The Estates Officer will spend much of his time hands-on, operating and maintaining mechanical plant and building and managing junior trade staff and apprentices /trainees. There is a requirement to manage several tasks at one time due to the frequent and unpredictable diversions or incidents.
