Learning Technician (Music)Ref: 2425/205Hours: 22.2 hours per week during term time for 38 weeks per year - working days to be discussed and agreedSalary: £24,347 pro rata per annum. Plus generous benefits, including Occupational Pension SchemeAbout the roleThe music technician’s role is to support the music department with any technical elements needed to support the students’ learning. Tasks include overseeing the management and upkeep of all of the music equipment and instruments, the use of the music practice rooms and the recording studio. The postholder is a key member of the team organising and running the technical side of all of the gigs and concerts, in college, and at external venues. This will involve liaising with the music team and organising the equipment needed, setting it up, being stage tech during the performances, and taking down after events. You should work flexibly at times, in order to accommodate evening performances, which will be compensated for by time back during the day. The role also plays a key role ensuring health and safety in the department and supporting students with any technical needs.A driving license is a requirement for this role as the successful candidate will need to transport equipment off site.About the PersonYou must be knowledgeable about music, and specifically the technical aspects. You should also be skilled in equipment management and maintenance. Ideally, you are or have previously worked in a similar role in a music and/or educational environment. Capable of organising the tech side of music performances, you will also have an up-to-date knowledge of music recording studios and live sound.About the CollegeWe are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more one million people.
