Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Salesforce Administrator / Developer (Technical Specialist) at NPL. The focus for this role is to lead on the design, development, and support of the platform. You’ll be joining the Enterprise Systems team.
This role will be looked upon to execute and lead on technical implementations and integrations, ensuring best practices are being followed. Implementing security by design within the system will be paramount, working alongside our Information and Cyber Security teams.
You must be adept at using Salesforce APIs to build seamless connections that enable data flow and functionality across platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement solutions to meet stakeholder needs.
- Drive continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships to support NPL’s mission and sustainability.
- Ensure data and process governance aligns with Cyber Security and GDPR.
- Administer the Salesforce platform.
- Customize and configure Salesforce (objects, fields, workflows, triggers, validation rules).
- Develop and implement integrations with other systems.
- Conduct unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.
- Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting.
- Stay updated on Salesforce best practices and features.
- Manage process automation (Workflow, Process Builder, Flow) and security/sharing rules.
- Oversee platform updates and communicate new features and fixes.
About You
This is a great opportunity for someone with the right skills and passion to join the Enterprise Systems team within CIO. It is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract to cover a member of staff. The contract will run from Nov-25 to Oct-26.
Essential Skills Required:
Salesforce Development & Administration
- Advanced Salesforce development: Apex, triggers, Visualforce, Aura Components, LWC.
- Proficiency with Salesforce Sales and Service Cloud.
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce administration and configuration.
- Experience with Platform App Builder and Salesforce APIs.
- Effective use of SOQL and SOSL for data querying.
- Familiarity with Salesforce Release Updates and their impact.
- Advanced understanding of Salesforce out-of-the-box implementations and best practices.
System Integration & Deployment
Hands-on experience with system integrations, including ERP (MS D365 preferred).
Skilled in managing release cycles and deployments across environments.
Strong grasp of authentication, data mapping, and error handling for robust integrations.
Project Lifecycle & Agile Delivery
- Involvement in all phases of the project life cycle (Requirement Gathering → Deployment/Maintenance).
- Agile delivery experience with backlog management and iterative development.
Certifications & Problem Solving
- Holds relevant Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform Developer, Administrator).
- Independent problem-solver with a passion for learning and growth.
Desirable:
- Experience working with Lightning Web Components (LWC).
- Exposure to Salesforce Pardot.
- Familiarity with documentation standards and change management processes.
