Are you a recent Psychology graduate with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
A warm and inclusive primary school in Birmingham is looking for a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team in September 2025.
This full-time, term-time only role is an excellent opportunity for aspiring Educational Psychologists, SEN specialists, or future teachers. You’ll gain invaluable hands-on experience supporting pupils with a range of needs—including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, or behavioural challenges—in a supportive, nurturing setting.
Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Key Responsibilities
• Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
• Assist in delivering tailored academic and behavioural interventions
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement effective strategies
• Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, confidence, and resilience
• Adapt learning resources to meet individual needs
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for caring, motivated graduates who have:
• A minimum 2:1 degree in Psychology or a related subject
• A strong interest in SEN, inclusive education, and child development
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
• A patient, proactive, and empathetic approach
• (Desirable) Experience working with children or young people with SEN – in schools, care, youth work, or tutoring
• Clear ambition to progress into education, psychology, or SEN-focused careers
