We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic registered nurse to take on the exciting and dynamic role of Clinical Nurse Specialist in Infection Prevention and Control. Providing clinical expertise in the prevention of infections and management of the healthcare environment to support patients to experience the best patient outcomes. You will be working within a multi-professional services, developing relationships with a wide range of staff not limited to Consultant Microbiologists, Microbiology Lab staff, Facilities and Estates Teams. Building rapport with the clinical areas and supporting the divisions in delivery of infection prevention and control.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) will work proactively as a member of the infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT) to ensure the highest standards of infection prevention and control are maintained and evidenced within the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
1.2. The CNS for IPC will act as a specialist nurse, providing professional advice and education on the prevention and control of infection to other professionals, multidisciplinary groups, patients and carers
1.3. The CNS IPC will be an effective communicator and a role model to staff, with a visible presence across all clinical departments.
1.4. The CNS for IPC will work with other members of the IPCT to manage patients with infection including interpretation of results and communication of appropriate recommendations.
1.5. The CNS IPC will work with other members of the IPCT to implement effective infection prevention strategies across the organisation and ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety to ensure no patient is harmed by a preventable infection
1.6. The CNS IPC will work with other members of the IPCT in surveillance, audit, monitoring and investigation of infections and to provide advice on and monitor measures for the prevention and control of Infection

2.1 The post holder will be visible in the clinical area and act as an expert resource for both staff and patients\clients.
2.2 To act as an expert advisor to all grades and disciplines of staff, in matters relating to infection prevention and control and correcting, when necessary, hazardous and ineffective procedures.
2.3 To act as an expert resource for inpatients and outpatients and their carers giving advice, education and support to help manage their treatment plan effectively.
2.4 To actively promote appropriate support for staff, patients and relatives by visiting wards, departments and community teams, identifying patients known to be carrying alert organisms along with other concerns relating to infection prevention and control, and implementing appropriate action(s).
