Summary


This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious clinical leader to apply for the position of Ward Manager of Ward 20 Care of the Elderly at UHCW NHS Trust.

Ward 20 operates as an 34 bedded care of the elderly ward , where patients presenting with frailty syndromes are admitted and supported by a multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of an Care of the Elderly consultant.

The post holder will hold a vital role within the ward in ensuring patients receive the best care whilst in the hospital.

Secondment will be considered for internal candidates – If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

High profile, accessible and responsive leader with clinical, staff and service responsibility for a defined patient group.

The post holder will be able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met. a. Will support staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/specialty.
• Responsible for identifying and assessing complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implementing resolutions and monitoring/auditing outcomes.
• Responsible for interdepartmental/organisational activities including HR; complaints; appraisal; hospital bleep-holder responsibilities on a regular basis and patient flow.
• Undertake highly specialised technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management including; complex patient monitoring and equipment management.
• Responsible for education and training provision of identified staff groups, patients and carers within defined areas.
• Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data available.
• Regularly manage expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need.
• Regularly support patients, carers and staff during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g breaking bad news or following an unexpected event.
• Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
