The purpose of this role is to complete, to the required quality standards, the analysis of food samples for a given method using laboratory techniques. Further, assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory
Please note this is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. There are currently two shift patterns available, which are:
- Wednesday 13:30 to 20:30, Thursday & Friday 10:00 to 20:30 and Saturday 09:00 to 20:30.
- Monday to Friday 14:00 - 22:00.
The training shift for the first two weeks will be Monday to Friday 10:00 - 18:00.
Registration, preparation and analysis of samples as required.
Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.
Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed throughout the day.
Maintain turnaround time at >99%, ensuring that daily targets are achieved.
Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner.
Ensure personal protective clothing equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.
Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Manual in order to ensure compliance at all times with the policies, procedures and associated documents which are referred to in the manual.
To assist through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard.
A flexible approach to work will be required to assist other departments as and when required.
Assist with continuous improvement within the microbiology department.
Qualifications
Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent.
Experience in working as part of a team.
Would be of advantage to have experience working in a fast paced production environment.
Good organisation and time management.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to self motivate.
