We're recruiting a PRU Mentor to join a dedicated team at a Secondary Alternative Provision in Bury. This Full-time & Long-Term position starting in September and offers the chance to work in a setting where every day counts.



Role details
- Position: PRU Mentor
- Location: Secondary Alternative Provision, Bury
- Start Date: September 2025.
- Hours: Full time - Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
- Contract: Long Term - could go perm eventually.
- Pay: £95-£110 per day (depending on experience)
- Paid PAYE directly via Now Education - no umbrella companies
- Equal pay to permanent staff after 12 weeks.



What you'll be doing
- Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH), challenging behaviours, and Autism within the classroom
- Using empathy, patience, and resilience to connect with students from vulnerable backgrounds
- Recognising behavioural triggers and applying de-escalation techniques
- Breaking down instructions and tasks to support individual understanding and success
- Assisting across the classroom or with specific students as required
- Promoting positive reinforcement and encouragement
- Collaborating with teachers, support staff, families, and external professionals
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

What we need from you:
- A CV showing at least 10 years of work/education history
- Right to Work in the UK and Proof of Address
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- References covering the past 2 years
- Overseas Police Check (if applicable)
- Some prior experience supporting children or young adults that display challenging behaviours or Mental Health.
