Personal Assistant – Support for ChildAbout Service User:
Service user is a creative and thoughtful young person with a strong interest in arts and crafts, including drawing, writing, and painting. She has a deep love for animals, especially cats. Service user has been diagnosed with autism and benefits from support that is patient, consistent, and understanding of her individual needs.
Service user may initially present with low mood and is often reluctant to engage with professionals until a trusting relationship is established. This process can take time, and she appreciates a gentle, respectful approach.
She experiences challenges with emotional regulation and can become heightened quickly. Historically, Service user has struggled with aspects of personal hygiene, such as showering, changing clothes, and using the toilet, though there has been recent improvement in these areas.
Service user currently does not leave the house and finds it difficult to do so. She has expressed a desire to build confidence and engage in social activities outside the home, but this will require gradual and sensitive support.
When interacting with professionals, often prefers to remain under a blanket, as she feels uncomfortable showing her face. This is a protective coping strategy, and any support should respect her boundaries and comfort levels.
