Summary
Location: Bridgwater, Somerset
Hours: 45 hours per week
What will you be responsible for?
As a MEICA Site Agent, you'll manage on-site installation and delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) systems on the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier, one of the UK's largest flood defence schemes.
Your day to day will include:
-Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure MEICA specifications, design reviews, and project objectives are met
-Lead technical assessments of MEICA packages, including buildability, operational procedures, risk assessments, and commissioning strategies (FAT/SAT)
-Manage MEICA delivery for the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Scheme from design through commissioning, ensuring alignment with project timelines and stakeholder expectations
-Oversee fabrication progress through subcontractor facility visits and ensure systems are robust, maintainable, and compliant with UKCA/CE marking
-Act as on-site M&E lead, coordinating a multi-disciplinary team and subcontractors to deliver safe, timely, and specification-compliant works
-Ensure construction compliance with CDM 2015, Kier SHE standards, and industry regulations (BS7671, ATEX/CompEx, IEC 61508, WIMES) while supporting commissioning and quality assurance
-Monitor programme progress, manage site logistics, materials, documentation, and contribute to planning, cost control, risk registers, and reporting
What are we looking for?
This role of MEICA Site Agent is great for you if:
-Extensive MEICA site delivery experience across infrastructure, water, and flood defence projects, with strong knowledge of control panels, power systems, PLCs, SCADA, hydraulic gates, and automation systems
-Technically proficient in HV/LV electrical systems, telemetry, heavy lifting operations, and MEICA integration within civil engineering, aligned with industry standards (BS7671, IEC 61508, CDM, ATEX/CompEx/DSEAR)
-Strong project leadership with proven ability to manage subcontractors, health & safety, construction logistics, and NEC4 contract environments
-Skilled in technical documentation review, systems engineering, interface management, and interpreting drawings and specifications
-Effective communicator and collaborator, adept at managing diverse stakeholders and resolving site issues with a flexible, delivery-focused mindset
-Qualified in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, holding SMSTS, CSCS, and ideally First Aid at Work, with experience in risk assessment and quality systems
