Your new role
As Commercial Manager, you'll drive the financial success of projects from tender to completion. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions
- Negotiating contract terms, variations, and commercial agreements
- Managing subcontractor agreements and procurement processes
- Conducting regular project reviews to monitor financial performance
- Preparing and submitting applications for payment
- Managing cash flow forecasting and budget control
- Ensuring full compliance with contract requirements
- Collaborating with project managers, site teams, and senior leadership
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Maintaining high standards of commercial governance
What you'll need to succeed
Essential requirements:
- Degree in quantity surveying, commercial management, or related discipline
- Substantial commercial experience in civil engineering/construction
- Strong knowledge of standard contracts (particularly NEC and JCT)
- Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Ability to interpret complex contract documents and identify risks
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities
- Detail-orientated with excellent organisational skills
- Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Advantageous:
- Professional qualification (RICS, CIOB, or similar)
- Experience in infrastructure or utilities projects
