Summary

We are seeking a proactive Assistant Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) to join our Children and Young Persons Intake team; to provide front-line support for children and families reaching out to Jami for support. This key role involves triaging referrals, signposting to external services, undertaking needs-led assessments, and delivering short-term interventions.

This post is working 3 days per week (22.5 hours).

About the Role:

As an AMHP within the CYP Intake Team, you will be a key contact for individuals seeking advice and support, as well as the first point of contact for those interested in Jami services. You will conduct needs-led assessments for entry into Jami services, occasionally delivering short-term interventions where our 1-1 support is less appropriate. Working within the intake team, you will also support the development of the service directory, our signposting document and support the growth of partnerships with other organisations. As networking is at the heart of this role, there will also be opportunities to attend the intake forum alongside those in a similar position in our partner charities.

Key Responsibilities:

Intake Services:

  • Triage and manage incoming referrals to our duty inbox in a timely manner.
  • Conduct needs-led assessments via in-person, telephone, or video platforms.
  • Identify and address safeguarding concerns in line with Jami’s policies.
  • Develop relationships with Jami’s service teams, holding relationships with key individuals in these teams
  • Appropriately know of, and signpost to, external services where appropriate.
  • Liaise with appropriate statutory and non-statutory health and social care organisations and signpost where appropriate.
  • Provide well-informed advice on mental health legislation and available resources.
  • Acting as a link worker to ensure children with mental health needs and their families reach the most appropriate support
  • Provide advocacy and short-term work where appropriate.
  • Developing and sustaining professional working relationships with clients, carers, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • To support the intake lead to build and sustain effective working relationships with all Jami’s service teams to promote accessible and inclusive referral pathways, enhancing user experiences.

General Duties:

  • Collaborate with Jami’s multi-disciplinary team to deliver integrated mental health services.
  • To maintain up to date and accurate electronic records as required by existing policies using Jami’s cloud-based contact management system
  • Use appropriate assessment tools such as review forms, SWEMWBS and IROC to evaluate caseload support.
  • Work efficiently and sometimes independently on Microsoft outlook platforms programmes.
  • To work virtually with video conferencing, zoom and Microsoft teams
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, GDPR, and other organisational policies.
  • Participate in supervision, appraisal, and continuous professional development.
  • To take responsibility to maintain own personal development and keep up to date with current knowledge and legislative changes through reading, attending study days, conferences, and meetings as appropriate in accordance with the requirements for continued professional development in line with your professional body and role requirements.
  • Ensure that all activities are operated consistent with the values of Jami at Jewish Care and the Jewish Community with which you serve.

We’re looking for someone with a passion for mental health, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Essential Criteria:

  • Recognised qualification in health or social care (e.g., Social Work, OT, RMN) or 2+ years’ experience in a relevant role and experience working with children and young people.
  • Proven experience in needs-led assessments, risk management, and safeguarding.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and IT skills.
  • Knowledge of recovery principles and mental health legislation.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and more complex mental health conditions.
  • An understanding of the socioeconomic factors that impact mental health
  • Ability to develop practical solution
