Summary


At BSMHFT, we are alwaysseekingto improve the way we provide interventions and develop new clinical skills andexpertise.  We are looking to recruit an experienced mental health OT who is motivated,enthusiasticandcommitted to professional and clinical developmentwithin Solar, our Young Person’s service in Solihull.


Solar,is part of our Integrated Community Care and Recovery Service (ICCR) providingrecovery basedcare both within our rehabilitation units and in ourcommunity basedteams. We are striving to provide the best quality care we can, engaging with community partners and specialist services, listening to families and carers by working collaboratively and stressing the importance of engaging with service users to co-produce services that are responsive and meets the needs of the young people that we see.

The successful applicant will be committed to multi-disciplinary and partnership working, demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to engage collaboratively with individuals and families. You will need to be flexible, energetic, have a positive attitude and demonstrate an ability to work autonomously. Communication is important to our team, and so it is vital that you enjoy partnership working and will be able to establish good networks with our Recovery College and other voluntary, statutory and independent agencies.


In terms of your OT practice, the successful applicant will;
• Have significant post qualification experience in working with young people or adults who have a mental health condition and can demonstrate a level of clinical expertise in the assessment of an individuals occupational needs and functioning.
• Manage a defined caseload of children and young people with complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a range of settings.
• Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OT services within the Solar service and hold responsibility for projects that are within scope for Occupational Therapy involvement or leadership.
• Regularly supervise OT students on placement, support and provide leadership for junior staff through supervision and appraisal.
• Actively contribute to the development of the Trust OT and AHP service, participate in wider Trust meetings, attending CPD forums and by paying attention to their own professional development by undertaking required and specialist training.
• The successful post holder will have a keen interest in recovery orientated approaches, co-production and collaborative work and will work closely within the team to provide OT assessment and intervention informed by OT and specialist assessments, the use of outcome measures and feedback from our service users and families.
