Summary

DWP Digital offers fulfilling careers for people who want to use their skills to make a difference.

We’re part of the UK’s biggest government department, administering the State Pension and a range of working age, disability, and ill health benefits to around 22 million claimants and customers. People who use our services are among some of the most vulnerable in our society.

Our product managers are part of a community where we share our experiences and problems and show what we are working on.

We have 2 roles we are recruiting for:

In Retirement Services we are early adopters of the new operating model for data in DWP and have been building new retirement services specific data capability; to begin to improve the value we can get from our data. We are sourcing new data directly from transformed services and making it available to users across the Department.

You will join one of our new strategic data teams where you will play a crucial role in the implementation of the new operating model for data, introduced in the new Data Strategy. You will work with data and tech professionals to ensure the needs of service data users are met.

Searchlight is a large, complex live service with many moving parts supporting DWP agents in resolving customer queries. The role is for an Associate Product Manager for the support of this critical live service. The role involves being capable to own workstreams and components. The scope of work for the project is only increasing as the team continue to support successful deliveries of new initiatives, manage the backlog, and iterate the live service.

We are looking for product managers who can prioritise key decisions using data and insight to drive development and improvement but equally who can lead the team effectively and with confidence. An essential ask is the ability to be able to flex and pivot to the needs of the user.

The role will be responsible for making evidenced based strategic and tactical product decisions and making key priority calls. You will be actively involved in developing the product strategy and setting the product vision, owning the product roadmap, and communicating product success to stakeholders but also defend controversial decisions about your product.

You will also have experience of product management techniques.

While you will work independently, you’ll also be part of a more complex area with the support of a more senior Product Manager.

Additionally, you’ll be a part of our Product Community of Practice, where Product Managers across DWP Digital come together to share learning, discuss their development needs, gain support, and solve for common problems.

One of these roles will involve working in a complex data and tech environment where data trust, integrity and security are vital. A previous background working in a data focused role and a general passion for data would be highly beneficial.

You will work with a range of data and tech specialists and will be able to communicate with them comfortably and effectively.
