Find out more about what it's like working at Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency - Department for Transport Careers
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) helps keep Britain moving, safely and sustainably. We do this by helping people through a lifetime of safe and sustainable journeys, helping them keep their vehicles safe to drive, and protecting them from unsafe drivers and vehicles.
We are looking for Product Managers to join our team, to articulate the vision for all digital products delivered by the Driver Services Platform (DSP). Ensuring that product development aligns with the Full Business Case (FBC) benefits and delivers improvements, whilst being accountable for a clearly defined, prioritised product backlog, ensuring value is delivered to users. This is a varied and fast paced opportunity where you will have the prospect of working with multiple suppliers.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Work with the Service Manager to develop the vision of DSP product(s) and ensure effective communication to the immediate and wider service team and relevant key stakeholders.
- Provide leadership to their team of Product Specialists (PS) to ensure they can provide detailed product knowledge and deliver products in line with the service vision.
- Work with the Service Owner, ensure the business benefits are achieved.
- Use information and concerns from key users to improve systems and trouble shoot potential issues. Ensure the PS team identifies better outcomes and understands the implications of any change to the service on key users.
- Responsible for prioritising all product developments and improvements and making decisions on where investment is made in improving the digital service.
- Define the standards, quality expectation, service levels and any required process specifications for the product(s) ensuring that operational or delivery staff and/or third-party partners understand what is required of them to enable them to deliver often complex requirements.
- Determine and plan their team requirements, including allocating resources and prioritising activities, over the short to medium term by fully understanding the business environment in which the team operates, the overall team objectives, ensuring their team fully understands and works to these requirements.
- Communicate with all major stakeholders (internal and external) to achieve business objectives.
Great line management is important to us as an organisation, and we will equip and support line managers to develop the skills they need. We aim to empower line managers to create teams where people can flourish and deliver excellent outcomes for the public.
