The Faculty of Medicine is looking to appoint a Research Publication Specialist Officer to provide reporting on research publications from our NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF). This is a part-time role (21 hours per week) available on a fixed term basis until 31 March 2028.

The role

The role is based in the Faculty of Medicine Research Support Office at Southampton General Hospital. Hybrid working is available, subject to completion of a probationary period. You will be part of a small team that provide research support. You will be responsible for identifying research outputs to submit to the NIHR which fund the BRC and CRF.

The role will involve:

Conducting eligibility checks on research publications.
Using abstracting and indexing databases databases such as Scopus, Web of Science and OpenAlex to produce reports.
Offering advice and support to academic staff and colleagues in professional services on research publications.
Update publications data in the University research information system (Pure)
Identify and implement improvements to reporting processes, taking advantage of technological solutions.
The successful candidate will:

Have experience or knowledge of abstracting and indexing databases.
Have experience or knowledge of academic publishing including open research and funder guidelines
Be confident working with multiple sources of data
Be able to produce work that is consistently of a high standard displaying excellent attention to detail.
Have the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and build relationships with key stakeholders.
