L&Q are looking for an experienced Electrician to take on this exciting new hybrid role within our in-house maintenance team working out of various locations covering the Northwest and the surrounding areas
This is a rewarding and exciting opportunity to make a difference to our residents’ life and lead the way in delivering a customer centred service. Our Electricians are responsible for ensuring that all they do is with our residents’ satisfaction and best interests in mind.
You will work alongside the current Electricians with a day to day run list of jobs, dealing with all aspects of electrical maintenance within our properties. Including CCU upgrades, fault finding, accessory changes, electrical testing as required and ensuring our homes are safe, compliant, and habitable. The focus will be on high quality work, outstanding customer service and a right first-time attitude.
As Lead Electrician, you will have additional duties serving as a ‘Qualified Supervisor’, registered with a CPS scheme (NICEIC). You will be given the required time to enable you to carry out these additional tasks alongside your daily jobs.
The lead electrician will have fundamental responsibility to ensure the quality & compliance of the day-to-day work of the business, to negate so far as is reasonably practicable, the risk of damage to L&Q property. You will be responsible for ensuring electrical installation work carried out by the local in-house electrical team is compliant.
The lead will ensure that results of inspection and testing are properly recorded on the appropriate prescribed forms of certification reporting and reviews and confirms the results for acceptability, as well as report notifiable works to Building Control.
We are focused on meeting targets, both financial and customer related working to time frames and making sure that jobs per day are completed on time and within cost. The team must have a firm knowledge and be ability to actively contribute to ensuring that the Direct Maintenance team’s KPIs are meet.
We are looking for experienced individuals, ideally with ‘QS’ experience (but guidance will be given, if not), with a good working knowledge within the building and/or housing environment, particularly within social housing or local authorities with experience of working within domestic and light commercial electrical roles.
You will have a gained good electrical knowledge, understanding and experience of inspection & testing of electrical installations, including good ability to fault find and identify dangers. Be able to undertake repairs and achieve ‘first time fixes’ to ensure services are maintained.
Have a good working knowledge of BS7671:2018 (and previous editions), as well as other electrical standards.
You will have the ability to self-manage and work in a pressured environment under strict time constraints, and a have excellent customer service with proven track record in delivering service to internal and external customers.
As well as a customer service focus candidate will have a good understanding of the Health and Safety requirements and will act with resident safety in mind.
To be considered for the role, the ideal candidate will hold qualifications within the following required areas:
NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Apprenticeship, or equivalent older craft qualification, inc End Point Assessment (AM2) (Table A4.8)
Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 (Table A4.9)
Level 3 Inspection & Testing- Initial verification (Table A4.10)
Level 3 Inspection & Testing- Periodic Inspection (Table A4.11)
At least 2 years’ evidence of responsibility for the technical standard of Electrotechnical work and evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development as per stated guidance. (Following formal qualification).
