About us
We are looking for a skilled Highway Engineer to join our Highways Construction Services team based in Swinton Hall Road depot in Salford City Council. This is a key role in supporting the planning, costing, and delivery of highway drainage and maintenance and infrastructure projects (small and large) across the City. The team delivers circa £10m of a wide variety of construction projects and works packages per annum including drainage, highway maintenance, traffic and street lighting works delivered both in-house and externally using Framework Contracts and is looking to expand. About the Role
This is a varied and exciting role where you will be required to support in the preparation of accurate cost estimates using Framework Contracts that in turn supports the delivery of highway drainage, construction and maintenance projects and schemes, interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities, liaise with project managers, designers, contractors and site teams to ensure estimates reflect project requirements. You will also be required to support the highway supervisors in ensuring that drainage asset management plans, surface water management plans, drainage investigations and cyclical gully regimes are developed and delivered.
About you
A Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, or related discipline together with an engineering / technical understanding and experience of how drainage and highways function in practice will be required along with excellent communication and organisational abilities. Having a full UK Driving Licence for site visits as necessary you will have proven experience in estimating or engineering within the highways or civil engineering sector. Strong numerical and analytical skills with proficiency in the use of Framework Contracts and MS Excel will be essential for this role.
