Summary


This 12-month fixed-term Band 7 vacancy offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified and motivated Clinical Scientist to join the specialist Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (H&I) team at Hammersmith Hospital, part of North West London Pathology (NWLP).

NWLP is a modernised clinical pathology service and a partnership between Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trust, and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Trust. As one of the largest pathology collaborations in the UK, NWLP delivers over 25 million tests annually across six hospital sites in North West London. It represents a forward-thinking model for high-quality, efficient diagnostics, committed to excellence for patients, users and staff.

In this role, you will support renal and stem cell transplant programmes as well as disease association testing. You will have opportunities to rotate through different areas of the UKAS- and EFI-accredited H&I laboratory and take part in the on-call rota for urgent solid organ transplant support.

Applicants must hold HCPC registration and have completed the BSHI Diploma. However, candidates who are nearing completion of STP training, or are close to achieving HCPC registration in H&I, will also be considered.
• As a Registered Clinical Scientist, you will carry out a range of complex scientific and technical work to support the delivery of a high-quality Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics service.
• Working alongside Consultant Clinical Scientists, Pathologists and the Divisional Manager, you will help ensure the service meets nationally accepted standards.
• You will develop competence in interpreting laboratory results and providing clinical advice, referring complex cases when appropriate.
• The role also involves active participation in audit, service development, and research projects within the specialist area.
• You will contribute to both local and national professional training activities and will be supported in working towards Part 1 of the FRCPath qualification (Associate level) during your time in post
