Job Title: Maintenance Engineer - Multi Skilled
Location: Hoddesdon
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per year (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time, 41.25 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 07:00-16:00, 45-min lunch break)
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a versatile Maintenance Engineer to handle product-related service work both on-site and in-house. The role involves UK-wide travel, occasional overnight stays, and supporting engineering and production teams when not attending site visits. A company vehicle will be provided; until then, personal vehicle use may be required with standard mileage expenses covered.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to service requests, carrying out onsite repairs and adjustments to products.
- Prepare and submit Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMs) ahead of site visits.
- Travel nationwide to fault-find and repair LED and smart lighting systems, including networked control hardware and software.
- Install, commission, and program advanced lighting control systems to meet design specifications and client requirements.
- Complete detailed service reports, including fault logs, component serial numbers, and photographic evidence for warranty purposes.
- Provide on-site technical guidance, operational training, and maintenance best practices to end-users and facilities teams.
- Support production teams with quality control checks and resolving manufacturing issues.
- Assist in engineering and production departments during periods when not required for on-site work.
- Offer technical assistance to sales and technical teams for customer projects.
- Participate in research and development, testing, and refining new product designs.
- Maintain Health & Safety standards, including conducting risk assessments and ensuring safe working practices.
- Assist with project work across departments, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Operate power tools and mechanical equipment safely (training provided).
Requirements
- EAL Level 2 and 3 Electrical qualification (or above).
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally within lighting or manufacturing.
- Mechanical bias with strong electrical skills (including motors).
- Excellent fault diagnosis and repair skills for lighting systems.
- Flexible individual willing to work across various engineering and production departments when not required on-site.
- Flexibility regarding travel distances for onsite work across the UK.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical/technical drawings.
- Positive, adaptable, and detail-oriented approach to work.
Desirable
- Forklift Truck Licence (training can be provided).
