Summary

We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Senior Supervisor to this challenging role within the Children’s Team within Sandwell Libraries and Archives.

Supporting and working in partnership with the Library Manager to assist in maintaining and improving library and information services for children and young people across Sandwell.

The role includes the coordination and running of a number of national literary projects as well as the development of localised approaches to working with children. To ensure that all routine tasks and duties are carried out by themselves or delegated to others and completed within the relevant deadlines. To assist the Library Manager by taking on appropriate premise Manager duties and representing the Library Manager at partner and stakeholder meetings as required.

You will undertake and be responsible for all tasks associated with the presentation of services, activities and events and all administrative routines and procedures.

You will need

Recognised library or customer service qualification (e.g. City and Guilds, NVQ Level 2/3 in Customer Care
OR be working towards one
OR equivalent skills and experience
Excellent customer service skills
Experience of co-operating with others as part of a team
Experience of manging your own workload and working to deadlines
Experience of working with adults and children and knowledge of key children’s literacy initiatives
At least two years’ experience of providing direct services to the public
Excellent I.T skills
You may be required to work Saturdays and be flexible in the hours you work in the week This post involves working at different libraries in other Towns depending on service requirements
