About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a friendly, forward-thinking accountancy practice. The role involves supporting a portfolio of clients with their bookkeeping requirements to ensure accurate and timely VAT returns and preparation for year-end accounts.

This is a client-facing role with regular communication and requires someone who is confident working independently and as part of a team. You’ll be supported by experienced client managers and will play an essential part in delivering outstanding service.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing purchase and sales invoices
• Uploading and matching bank transactions
• Performing regular bank reconciliations
• Reviewing trade debtor and trade creditor balances
• Preparing and organising documentation for client managers’ review
• Responding to ad-hoc client queries
• Attending client site visits as required
• Supporting team members with training and knowledge sharing
• Meeting monthly bookkeeping and VAT deadlines

You’ll be responsible for a dedicated list of clients, with the flexibility to support others as needed across the team.

About You

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Strong experience in bookkeeping (ideally in a practice or multi-client environment)
• Confidence in client communication
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively
• Good attention to detail and accuracy
• A proactive and team-focused mindset
• Familiarity with bookkeeping software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) is advantageous
