Summary

This is a unique opportunity to join a small but growing team, passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable customers through robust safeguarding and domestic abuse (DA) support.

Platform Housing Group is a not-for-profit organisation that reinvests profits into building more homes and engaging with communities.

We are recruiting for a Safeguarding & Domestic Abuse Officer, covering an area which includes the Midlands, Derbyshire Dales and Leicester . This is a newly created, specialist roles designed to strengthen our safeguarding provision and help us respond to a rising number of complex cases across the organisation.

As a Safeguarding & Domestic Abuse Officer, you will play a crucial behind-the-scenes role. You will offer professional advice and guidance to colleagues dealing with complex or high-risk cases, ensuring consistency and best practice across the organisation. Building relationships with external partners such as social services, Local Authority and the police will be part of your regular activity, and you’ll be expected to attend multi-agency meetings — both virtually and in person, where required.

You’ll also support the delivery of internal safeguarding case surgeries, review cases, contribute to the team newsletter, and help strengthen awareness across the business. Over time, you may also contribute to internal training delivery, helping to raise understanding and build confidence across our workforce.

Due to these roles being new in our organisation, you’ll have the autonomy to really embed this role with the opportunity to bring forward ideas.

This is a home based role with occasional travel to Midlands offices and other locations as required.

About You

You’ll bring a strong working knowledge of safeguarding and domestic abuse, ideally gained through roles in housing, local authority, support services, or community-based organisations.

We’re looking for someone who:

Understands statutory safeguarding responsibilities and multi-agency processes

Can provide confident advice on complex, high-risk cases

Has experience working with issues like mental capacity, hoarding, exploitation, and neglect

Is empathetic, calm under pressure, and sensitive to the realities our customers face

Can work independently, take initiative, and bring new ideas to improve practice

Is happy to collaborate across teams and adapt to a changing caseload

Experience in housing is a bonus, but not essential — more important is your confidence, emotional intelligence, and desire to make a real impact.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing, mission-driven team focused on safeguarding people and raising the standard of support we offer.

Please note an enhanced DBS will be required for this role.
