Coleg Plas Dwbl currently offers residential support for students, providing Practical Skill Therapeutic Education for young people aged 16 to 25 years who have a range of learning difficulties, including autistic spectrum disorders and behaviours that challenge.
Our service is continually developing and we are always looking for committed individuals who feel they can help us to achieve our aims. Individual development is given the highest priority together with the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of a positive and progressive service. A Welsh speaker is desirable but not essential
In order to be successful in this role you will:
• Have a strong desire to support young people, have excellent observational skills, and the ability to problem solve and think creatively to enable our young people to reimagine their potential
• Be patient, caring, compassionate with a young person-centred nature
• Be a team player with experience of support work in both educational and residential settings
• Have the ability to manage emotionally challenging situations, demonstrating emotional intelligence and resilience with the ability to react calmly in stressful situations
• Be able to work flexible hours as this role works predominantly evenings, weekend and sleepovers on a rota basis
• Ideally have a Level 3 in Health and Social Care, if not be willing to gain this qualification which Ruskin Mill Trust will financially support you to gain
Due to the locations of some of our team houses at Plas Dwbl, Pembrokeshire with travel to Ty’r Eithin, Carmarthenshire – being a driver with access to your own vehicle would be advantageous. Shifts involve working primarily during the evenings and weekends, including sleepovers.
Working at Ruskin Mill Trust is incredibly rewarding; we offer competitive salaries and holiday allowances, an auto-enrolment pension scheme with a salary sacrifice option, a health cash plan and employee assistance programme via Medicash.
In addition, staff receive valuable training opportunities including an in-depth interactive induction to enable our new team members to experience our Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) curriculum and also opportunities for further training and academic research including our own MSc in Practical Skills Therapeutic Education.
