Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a team that is at the forefront of AUKUS UK Programme.

Supporting the AUKUS UK Project Management Office (PMO), they will play a crucial role in ensuring the UK Programme is functioning efficiently by providing skilled project management support. The PMO will work with and for the whole of the UK Project Delivery Office (PDO), cohering the UK contributions. This will include working with stakeholders such as the UK’s Navy Command and the Submarine Delivery Agency, an Arm’s Length Body of the Ministry of Defence.

The delivery of the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine programme is a wide-ranging undertaking reaching across three countries, numerous government agencies and a wide range of industry partners.

As a PMO specialist, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and executing complex projects and programmes, using your expertise in planning & scheduling, risk, benefits, managing budgets etc. You use your analytical skills to create insightful reports to guide decision making and create extra value for senior leadership. Your strengths in engaging with people, gathering information and making sense of complicated situations will be key. A strong PMO can be a force multiplier, and you will do this to help deliver more successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute project plans, defining scope, goals, deliverables, resources, and timelines, while ensuring alignment with client objectives.
Apply a variety of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall etc.) as appropriate to different project contexts, tailoring your approach to meet client needs.
Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, implementing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
Foster strong long-term working relationships by maintaining regular communication, managing expectations, and providing transparent project status updates.
Implement effective change management strategies to facilitate smooth project transitions and adoption of new solutions within client organisations.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
Manage and engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Draft and sign-off correspondence.

This post is advertised at 37 hours per week.
