Summary
Primary Responsibilities. a. Obtaining patient consent for the collection of blood sample b. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols c. Maintaining accurate patient records on the clinical IT system d. The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples e. Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies f. Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner g. Maintaining an effective liaison with the NHS trust laboratory staff h. Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters. Secondary Responsibilities a. Participate in practice audits as directed by a member of the senior team b. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery with patient care c. Support and participate in shared learning within the practice
